DPOC Monthly Meeting, July 14, 2025 | 7-8pm
Welcome, Promise to America and Land Acknowledgement (3) Chair Emily Tseffos
Emily called the meeting to order at 7:01pm. She welcomed everyone, lead the Promise to America, and
read the Land Acknowledgement.
Approval of June Minutes (2) Secretary Mary Kohrell
Motion and second by Dale Shaber/Dean Spoehr to approve the June 11, 2025 DPOC meeting minutes. No
discussion. Motion carried.
Review and Approve Treasurer’s Report (2) Chair Tseffos for Treasurer Alyssa Vandenberg
As of June, we have $56,561.81 in checking, $1,092.64 in savings. June income was $3,112.22, and expenses
were $5408.46. Motion by Dottie LeClair/Christiana Coakley to approve Treasurer’s report as presented.
Motion carried.
Grounding Statement (3) Emily Tseffos
Emily shared a grounding statement and provided perspective of the importance of our efforts during this
important time.
Introduction of new EBC Member Taylor Wilson, PR Coordinator (5)
Presentation on public relations plans, call for input
Taylor introduced herself and called for volunteers in public relations. She encouraged people with skills in
graphic design, art, photography, videography, and website coordination to volunteer, and is specifically
interested in Gen Z volunteers with experience in social media, media relations, content writing, and event
promotion.
State Budget Recap (10) Emily Tseffos
Emily shared that the Executive Board stands by the prepared statement that was shared, which
indicates our concern for lack of education funding in the state budget. Sen. Alfheim was present and
willing to answer questions; Rep. Snodgrass was unable to attend. Emily read the prepared statements
from both of these elected officials.
Aug 16-17 Bridge Building Canvass Overview (5) - Trisha Kostelny
Trisha shared an overview of the bridge building weekend and how people can volunteer to get
involved. She encouraged people to sign up to volunteer. The focus area will be the Heart of the Valley.
She also described the need for volunteer recruitment using text message outreach.
Candidate Recruitment (2) Vanessa Sabee
Vanessa indicated the process to recruit candidates has started. Our goal is to have the candidate slate
for spring elections and all of 2026 candidates identified soon. People who are interested are
encouraged to reach out to Vanessa. There is a candidate training forum scheduled Aug 28.
